A house born from unique expertise

Marcel Robert was born from the encounter between the exacting standards of fine watchmaking and the art of leather craftsmanship. Our creations are conceived as collectible objects: rare, functional, and made to last.

We design leather iPhone cases with a minimalist design, as well as Apple Watch straps, MacBook bags and other leather accessories in limited series.

The Founder

Born in Paris in 1967, Hervé Marcel-Robert spent fifteen years in fine-watch customer service — first at Cartier, then within the Richemont Group, where he managed after-sales across the CIS region. In the early 2000s he also became a leather craftsman.

This experience forged a conviction: exceptional service requires accessories of the same standard — leading to the creation of a local workshop and, later, the birth of the house of Marcel Robert.

From Watchmaking to Leather Goods

One problem kept coming back: a repaired watch could not go back to its owner because a replacement leather watch strap took weeks to arrive. His answer was a local workshop able to make straps to Swiss-brand standards.

He founded Marcel Robert in 2009 and opened its first atelier in central Moscow the same year; it soon became a reference point for the local subsidiaries of major Swiss watch houses.

In 2019 he left Russia. Since then, the Marcel Robert atelier has been based in Brittany, France, where he makes every piece himself.

Why “Marcel Robert”?

To embody his French origins while remaining accessible to an international audience, the brand took the founder’s two additional given names: Marcel & Robert. Simple, memorable, universally French.

Birth of the Icon: the iPhone Case with Soft Flap

In 2013, a personal need became a defining idea: to design a leather iPhone case that was thin, lightweight, protective and ergonomic. The ROBERT case, with its magnetic soft flap, was born in January 2013.

Since then, our full-grain and exotic leather iPhone cases have established themselves for their functional simplicity and timeless aesthetics.

Proof Through the Market

The success was immediate: duty-free boutiques, in-flight catalogs, and later distribution in local Apple Stores. The best proof? Customer loyalty and word-of-mouth.

Each creation is crafted from full-grain leather carefully selected from French and Italian tanneries, and may include exotic skins (alligator, lizard, ostrich, python) for certain pieces.

We focus on limited series and numbered editions to guarantee rarity and traceability. Each piece is made by hand, from start to finish, by Hervé Marcel-Robert himself in the Brittany atelier, with strict quality control at every stage. The result: durable objects that develop a unique patina over time.
